As we can see it did not lower the prices and they are going back up. Now it will cost us more to replace it, especially if you use the first in first out method, and we paid a lot less for that crude oil. I hope the money they earned was used to replace the oil at whatever cost. Conservation keeps your money in your pocket.

There are 42 gallons in a barrel of crude oil. At $96/bbl that is about $2.29 per gallon. What do you believe is a fair price per gallon for shipping, refining, distributing, blending, delivering to your corner station, and finally for pumping it into your tank?

Obama and those who still support him have no idea what STRATEGIC means. One of the things it does NOT mean is lowering gas for a week going into the summer driving season. The few days of lower pump price and world crude price does indeed prove that supply and demand still have an influence on today's market. A one time "spurt" did just what could be expected, a very brief drop in price. Removing oil from the SPR is just one more form of deficit spending, only with a commodity rather than with money, which will come back to haunt Obama and/or his successor. The only cure for rising energy price is to fire everyone in this administration who supports Obama's bottling up our domestic sources of oil, coal and gas, especially the guy at the top, and get back to drill here, drill now just as quickly as possible.

Well since out gas has gone up twice in two days, I'd say it wasn't a great idea if they thought it would bring prices down. We're now sitting at over $1.30/litre in KW Ontario.....

Great idea! Obama was right on! This is the first time in years that gas prices have dropped during SUMMER months! Thanks Obama, for lightening the load a bit for our Summer!! Keep up the good work!! Kick those Congressional Republicans in the you know what, until they understand that we Americans want the wealthy to pay their fair share!!!

Obomno (Thanks NOTSOGRN) was way wrong to open the SPR. It failed him miserably. It was a pure political move that failed.

It just seems that saving for a rainy day doesn't make much sense when its constantly raining? I say tap the reserves if it will help lower pump prices and give the people a chance to buy a soda with their gas!

mouTh brEAther opinion a few weeks ago - Predent Obummer ain't doin nuttin about gas prices. He's just sitting on the strategic reserve, it ain't doin nuttin while we pay more for gas. If there was more oil, prices would go down. I is smrter than the muslin socalst... mumble mumble mumble.
mouTH brEAther opinion today - Predent Obummer is trying to make us less secure. The strategic reserves are less and gas prices keep going up anyway. He ain't doin nuttin about gas prices. I is smrter than the muslin socalst... mumble mumble mumble.
The smart people said for years taking oil out of the strategic reserve would not do anything. But the 'we share a brain' trust on the Right kept making that demand.
We tried the GOP 'common dense' (they like to call it common sense but that is only a lable, not the truth) way. Of course their response is "why did you listen to us, you moron", ignoring the mouTh brEAther in the mirror who continues to ruin the country.

That was a bad idea. Now releasing booze from the Strategic Alcohol Reserve, specifically in my custody, is a decision worth implementing.

Definitely No. Doing any release from the Strategic Reserve will not close the 35.9Mil barrels current inventory as of Jul 1 which was released yesterday. That will only come through increasing production here at home. And crude prices after taking a short dip on news of this release are back at the same levels as before 96.65/42 gallon barrel. That equates to $2.30/gallon of crude. The current RBOB contract is at $3.08 and if you add the 46.5 cents/gallon state and federal tax anyone charging less than $3.54 is losing money.

That oil reserve sell-off was just another pillaring of our assets to cover out-of-control spending. That oil went up for bid and 70% went to European countries at prices higher than our current market value. Europe pays about $15 per barrel higher from their supplier. Selling our reserves did nothing to lower the price here, but it might have helped in Europe.

Its there for 1 reason only, for the use of our military in times of war when we have been cut off from foreign supplies. It was never designed to be used to relieve the public in times of high prices. Obama has tried to use it for political reasons because he knows his chances get bleaker of being reelected the higher gas prices go up.
